Tell a story simply, not necessarily a simple story.

As a kid, I spent hours in my grandfather’s darkroom, which was filled with mysterious glass bottles, yellow and tan boxes of glass plate negatives, and beautiful enlarger lenses. By the time I got my first Kodak Instamatic camera at age seven, I didn’t stand a chance. I was hooked.

I opened my first studio in Fort Point Channel in Boston in 1980—working with clients such as FedEx, Bose, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and CSX.  It was a very cool place to work, that is until the Big Dig hit!

Three principles have guided me through my 30+ year career:

  • don’t be passive, be involved and work with your subject
  • be honest and open in your work or people will mistrust the image
  • tell a story simply, not necessarily a simple story

Today, our 1,500 square-foot digital studio—located just outside of Boston off Route 495—sits in the middle of pine woods and pastures. We offer peace, quiet, and the ability to shoot anything from tabletop to a full production set. If you need a break during shoots, take a walk in the woods or try out our climbing wall.

We’ll shoot anything from the smallest pin to a full-blown set. All equipment and expertise is in-house, so your images can be shot, color corrected, adjusted & burned to a DVD or uploaded all in the same day.

Our studio is equipped with a 24′ Cyc wall, state of the art Profoto strobes, Leaf digital camera backs, and a full range of grip equipment. All images are proofed on dual Eizo calibrated monitors.

macro photography

With tilt/shifts on the camera, a motorized back that allows for minute focus manipulation, and software with crazy algorithms, I can control focus back to front and top to bottom, even up close. In this studio, selective focus is a creative decision, not a technical imitation.

pre-production

Need help getting from concept to finished image? We work closely with stylists, set-builders, and talent agencies to lay the foundation for a successful shoot.

photo-styling

We work with you to translate your vision into a compelling story. From custom props and painted backdrops to full-scale sets, anything is possible! Our in-house artists and fabricators work with a wide variety of materials.

Go behind the scenes

post-production

If your project needs a little extra TLC, we can help. We offer full post-production services including silhouette with clipping paths, retouching, color conversion, and more. Samples are available by request, just ask!
